Post-Election Polls Bounce for Obama is Fading
Posted on 14 February 2011

The Gallup poll sets a high standard for measuring presidential approval ratings. This poll is the oldest out there so there is a lot of historical performance dating back to FDR with which to compare where President Obama stands relative to his predecessors. The day-to-day Gallup tracking poll is very volatile, but on the week-to-week poll the randomness gets canceled out and we get a truer snapshot of public opinion.
Last week President Obama's Gallup poll approval rating was at 47%, with 45% disapproving. This is the lowest number since Christmas and seems to indicate that the bounce his numbers received in post-election polls has mostly faded. In addition, the Rasmussen poll is showing the same result, with numbers down slightly from mid-January and back to where they were on Midterm Election Day.
